Progressing research twinning

The twinning activities of CEOSeR have been very successful and progressing as planned.

Twinning included such research and training activities for the researchers of the Kaunas University of Technology as

  • The technological development of organic thin film transistors and solar cells (at UPC),
  • Training in advanced synthetic methods, such as inter- and intramolecular cycloadditions, palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions, which can be used in the synthesis of conjugated heterocyclic building blocks of organic semiconductors (at KU Leuven),
  • Training and theoretical studies by quantum chemical computational methods of low-molar-mass organic semiconductors. After the training the researchers were able to merge their knowledge on the theoretical studies of organic semiconductors and the experimental results obtained in their research works (at UCP-LPPI),
  • Gaining access to equipment and advanced scientific knowledge in modern spectroscopic methods of investigation of organic semiconductors and gaining expertise in the preparation of highly efficient low-molar-mass OLEDs and in the state-of-the art requirements for the materials used in these devices (at TU-Dresden)
  • Studying scaling up and commercialization of organic semiconductors, as well as the requirements for organic electroactive materials used in commercial OLEDs (at Novaled).

Training periods were organized for PhD students in the laboratories of twinning partners and a common research space was created with the strategic twinning partners where the researchers work together as a single research unit and several research papers have been already published in collaboration.
